An IDF blank disc is a solid stainless steel disc used to block off a pipeline or port within an IDF union. It is held in place by an IDF Hex Nut and requires a T-shaped seal to ensure a hygienic, leak-proof closure.
Key Features
Hygienic Profile: Designed to provide a flush internal surface, preventing "dead legs" or product traps where bacteria could grow.
Material: Usually manufactured from 316 or 316L stainless steel for maximum corrosion resistance against process fluids and CIP (Clean-In-Place) chemicals.
Standard: Fully compliant with BS 4825 Part 4 and ISO 2853.
Safety Accessory: Frequently sold as a "Blank Nut and Chain" assembly to prevent the disc from being lost when the line is open.
Applications
Temporary Capping: Sealing off branches of a manifold during maintenance.
Tank Ports: Closing off unused inlet or outlet ports on storage vessels.
Cleaning: Isolating sections of pipework during aggressive chemical cleaning cycles.
