Through-hardened washers are high-strength fasteners heat-treated uniformly throughout their entire cross-section.

They feature a standard surface hardness of 37–45 HRC (Rockwell C) and a minimum core hardness of 30 HRC.

These components distribute intense clamping loads over a wider area, preventing softer joint materials from compressing or galling.

They are critical for preserving bolt preload tension in high-stress structural joints.

  • Manufacturing Method: Quenched and tempered. This ensures consistent mechanical properties from the outer surface to the core.
  • Dimensions: Generally thicker and smaller in outside diameter than standard utility washers to handle intense local pressures.
