Hygienic clamp fittings, primarily known as Tri-Clamp (or Tri-Clover) fittings, are a widely used system of components designed to provide secure, leak-proof, and easily demountable connections in sanitary pipelines. Components
A complete Tri-Clamp connection consists of three primary parts working in unison:
- Ferrules: These are short, cylindrical metal sleeves with a flanged end that are welded onto the end of a pipe or tube. The two ferrules are brought together to create the connection point.
- Gasket: A food-grade seal (usually made of EPDM, silicone, or PTFE) is placed between the two ferrule faces to create a tight, hygienic seal.
- Clamp: A circular metal clamp fits around the outside of the two ferrules and the gasket, applying pressure with a wing nut or bolt mechanism to ensure a secure, leak-proof joint.
