An RJT blank nut is a hexagonal blanking cap used to securely seal off the end of an RJT (Ring Joint Type) male pipe fitting in a hygienic process line, preventing contamination and leakage.
Function and Material
Function: The blank nut screws onto an existing RJT male fitting, effectively capping the line. This is commonly done during maintenance, cleaning (CIP), or when a section of pipework is temporarily out of use. A hygienic seal (O-ring) is used with the blank to ensure a sterile, leak-proof closure.
Material: To maintain hygiene standards, the blanking part (which acts like a blank liner) is typically made from Grade 316 or 316L stainless steel as it is a "wetted" part. The external hexagonal nut component is often made from Grade 304 stainless steel. This combination ensures excellent corrosion resistance and durability.
Accessories: Often supplied with a small stainless steel chain, which helps prevent loss by securing the nut to adjacent pipework or framework.
