ISO 7089 washers are metric, normal-series flat plain washers designed to distribute fastener clamping loads and prevent surface damage.
This international metric standard functionally replaces the older, widely used DIN 125 Form A standard (which covers flat washers without a chamfered outer edge).
Technical Hardness Classes
Washers produced under ISO 7089 criteria are explicitly categorised by their Vickers hardness (HV) rating:
200 HV Class: Features a hardness range of 200–300 HV. These are designed for standard engineering and are suitable for hex bolts, screws, and nuts up to and including Property Class 8.8.
300 HV Class: Features a harder range of 300–400 HV. These are intended for higher-stress applications and are suitable for high-tensile assemblies up to Property Class 10.9, as well as through-hardened socket head cap screws.
