RIVETS

Rivets are permanent mechanical fasteners used to join two or more materials

The most common type for DIY and general assembly are blind rivets, sometimes known as POP rivets.

They are called "blind" because they can be installed from only one side of the workpiece using a rivet gun that pulls a mandrel to expand the body.

Head Styles

The head style determines the surface finish and the clamping area:

  • Dome Head: The standard, rounded profile for general-purpose fastening.
  • Countersunk (Flat): Sits flush with the material surface, ideal for aerodynamics or where a smooth finish is required.
  • Large Flange: Has a wider surface area to prevent the rivet from pulling through soft or brittle materials like plastic or timber.
