Form A washers are one of the most common type of metric flat washer used in everyday engineering and construction.

They are specifically defined by having a squared outside edge without any bevel or chamfer.

Key Characteristics

  • Dimensions: They feature "normal" thickness and a "normal" outside diameter relative to the bolt size.
  • Design: Unlike Form B, which has a bevelled (chamfered) edge, Form A is completely flat with straight, square edges.
  • Standards: In the UK and Europe, they typically conform to BS 4320 Form A or DIN 125 Form A.
  • Compatibility: Designed for use with standard metric bolts and nuts of property class 8.8 or lower.
