ALUMINIUM

Aluminium blind rivets are the most popular choice for lightweight fastening due to their excellent corrosion resistance and ease of installation.

They are typically composed of an aluminium alloy body (such as Grade 5056 for structural integrity) and either an aluminium or steel mandrel.

Key Material Combinations

The mandrel material significantly affects the final strength and properties of the connection:

  • Aluminium Body / Aluminium Mandrel: Offers maximum corrosion resistance and a uniform look but has the lowest shear and tensile strength. Best for very lightweight or decorative tasks.
  • Aluminium Body / Steel Mandrel: The most common "standard" pop rivet. The steel mandrel provides higher pulling force during installation, resulting in a tighter grip, though the exposed mandrel end may eventually show minor rust.
  • Aluminium Body / Stainless Steel Mandrel: A premium hybrid that balances high-strength pulling with better long-term resistance to environmental factors than standard steel mandrels.
