Hygienic ball valves are designed for on/off flow control in sanitary process systems.
They are designed to meet stringent cleanliness standards for industries like food processing, brewing, and pharmaceuticals.
Key Features
Materials: The body and ball are typically made from high-grade stainless steel (usually 316 or 316L), while external components like handles might be 304 stainless steel. Internal seals and seats are commonly made from PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) or EPDM rubber to comply with FDA requirements.
Design: They feature a full-bore design to allow unrestricted flow and minimize pressure drop and product buildup. The internal surfaces are polished to prevent bacterial growth and facilitate effective Clean-In-Place (CIP) and Sterilize-in-Place (SIP) processes.
Configuration: They are available in both 2-way (simple on/off) and 3-way (for diverting or mixing flow in 'L' or 'T' port configurations) designs.
We keep these in stock with plain ends - ready for direct welding to pipework, but can also supply on short lead times with Ferruled ends or Din Male ends.
