SMS NUT

SMS NUT

An SMS nut is a round, slotted component made of 304 stainless steel that is used to secure hygienic pipe connections adhering to the Swedish Manufacturing Standard (SMS 1145).

Its design facilitates a robust, leak-free connection, primarily within the food, beverage, and dairy industries.

Function and Material

  • Function: The SMS nut screws onto the external thread of an SMS male part. It compresses an "L" or square-style gasket seal between the male part and the liner to create a secure, hygienic, and crevice-free seal, vital for maintaining sanitary conditions in pipework.
  • Design: The distinctive round shape with side slots is designed to be tightened or loosened using a specific C-spanner or hook spanner, providing a robust connection suitable for lines that are seldom dismantled.
