SMS LINER

SMS LINER

An SMS liner is an essential internal component of an SMS (Swedish Manufacturing Standard) hygienic pipe union, designed to create a smooth, crevice-free internal surface and a secure sealing face.

Key Features and Materials

  • Function: The liner aligns with the SMS male part and is held in place by the round slotted nut, compressing the "L" or square-style seal to form a leak-proof and sanitary connection. Its design ensures a smooth transition within the pipeline, which is critical for minimizing product residue buildup and facilitating effective Clean In Place (CIP) operations.
  • Standard: All SMS liners are manufactured to the Swedish Standard SMS 1145.
  • Material: To maintain hygiene and resist corrosion, the liner is typically manufactured from high-grade 316 or 316L stainless steel. The external round nut it connects with is usually made from 304 stainless steel.
