PN40

A PN40 flange has a fixed nominal pressure rating of 40 bar (approximately 580 psi).

Unlike the ASME/ASA system, the PN system uses a single pressure class designation that assumes the maximum pressure is at ambient temperature (around 20°C).
The maximum working pressure for a PN40 flange generally decreases if the temperature rises significantly.

Up to 20°C (Ambient) 40 bar
Above 20°C (e.g., 100°C) Pressure derates based on material

For common materials:
  • Steel (Carbon or Stainless): The 40 bar rating is typically maintained across a wide temperature range if the material allows for it.
