They function as a through-fixing, meaning you drill the hole straight through the frame and into the wall while the frame is held in position.
You then push the extra-long anchor through the frame into the wall and tighten it, pulling the frame securely against the masonry without distorting it.
How Frame Anchors Differ from Other Fixings
Compared to Hammer Fixings: While both are through-fixings, hammer fixings are driven in with a hammer for rapid installation of lighter battens. Frame anchors are typically screw-tightened using a Torx or poz driver. This mechanical tightening provides significantly higher clamping force and load-bearing capacities for heavy or structural loads.
Compared to Standard Plugs: A standard plastic wall plug sits entirely inside the masonry wall. A frame anchor has an elongated nylon sleeve that spans the entire thickness of the timber frame plus the depth of the masonry hole, protecting the internal steel screw from shearing or bending under heavy weight.
