A BSP female union is a three-piece pipe fitting designed to connect two male-threaded pipe sections. Its primary advantage is that it allows the connection to be easily dismantled for maintenance or inspection without cutting the pipe. 

Key Components

A standard threaded union consists of:

  1. Two Female Tailpieces: These thread onto the male ends of the pipes being joined.
  2. A Union Nut: This draws the two tailpieces together to form a pressure-tight seal.
  3. A Sealing Interface: Depending on the design, this may be a conical (taper) seat (metal-to-metal) or a flat face with a gasket/O-ring.
